The spirit of hospitality can only start to be enhanced when the hotel industry discovers the spiritual nature of the heart. But I think that there is very little chance of the current generation of hoteliers and even more so hotel group Executive Board members accepting this because it is spiritual. The word “spiritual” is a taboo word in hotel circles. If the spiritual nature of the heart was a piece of technology or if it could be put into an app, the hotel industry would flock toward it. But the hotel industry still cannot even accept the spiritual essence of hospitality, so nothing can be done to revolutionise the spirit of hospitality yet. Adding more and more apps and technology, and attending hotel conferences whose focus is technology will, I can assure you, only weaken the spirit of hospitality because all that technology will make the guest experience more and more contactless and more divorced from unconditional love. To enhance the spirit of hospitality limitlessly the hotel industry must look inwards and learn how to purify the heart and increase the spiritual capacity of the employees. Hospitality is a spiritual path trodden with practical feet. The current thinking of the hotel industry’s leaders will not help in the slightest, but unfortunately, they are considered to be the guiding lights.
